Last day 2009

It's been a crazy year and I didn't finish what I started in such hope and anticipation. Life got in the way, but I made a few good decisions. One was to leave full time work and the more I think about that the better it has turned out to be. I look forward to 20120 and for the reasons I started this blog originally, I am going to continue it this year. I loved following Tania's 365 project and she did see it through. I am glad that Sue will be continuing her Year of Images as well. I have joined the Edtech 365/2010 Flickr group and am looking forward to getting involved with that. I love the idea of having the theme of change for January. It seems like a very rich topic. There is also discussion about how to use the group in the classroom - very intriguing.

Day 68

It was my study, but now it's Kieran's. If only he would be in there more:

Day 67

Went to the gym today and on the way out I took this photo of the pool:

On Saturday 7th March I saw this amazing cloud formation:

Just found a copy of my 30 year old passport photo. I was only 23.:

Day 65

This my rather overexposed self portrait, but somehow I like it: After a hard week's work

My experimental shot:

Day 64

I really only took one photo today which I uploaded to both the 2009/365 group and the twitter 365 group:

Here it is: My school

I took it because I am constantly amazed that whenever I look up I have a view of the sea. How much better could it get?

Day 63

Rain (finally) just as the kids get out of school: After our days of extreme heat and extreme fire danger we have a day of coolness and rain

Coming out of uni tonight after our session: Tonight was the first session of my University course for 2009. I am completing a Masters of Education in ICT

Day 62

Today the fire danger was 170, with high winds and high temperatures. No lives were lost today thank goodness:

After our meeting this afternoon I asked two colleagues, Mel and Talaylen to pose for a photo. I love these guys:

Day 61

Teaching Year 8 Geography has made me aware of different things. I called this one Land use on the way to work:

And this one is self explanatory I think:

Day 58

Had a great day today. It started off this morning with this great photo:

And continued with great news about Kieran's progress. He will be going to school part time from next Tuesday:

Day 57

Today I got the best surprise of my life when I saw my son Lachlan who left for Norway two years ago. He has travelled in some remarkable places and is home for six months before he returns to Norway to go to University:

While driving through Prahran today, I took this photo of some trees and their shadows:

Day 56

I love the bloggers feasts and the twitterers' meetups we have in Melbourne when we have friends from interstate or overseas. Tonight a few of us got together. This is Allison and me at our dinner:

I took this picture of the classroom without students because I could still feel their energy in the room, as if the air was still moving with their activity. They are keeping me on my toes a bit, I must say, but I do love 'em:

The students have gone to lunch

Day 55

I liked this shot:

And all through this latest drought, the roses have kept flowering without any additional watering. Amazing!

Day 54

I loved this pattern of roots under a pine tree. When I had taken a few shots, I realised my foot was intruding into one of them (not visible in the blog. Click on the photo to go to Flickr):

As I was coming home from work today, I was driving closer and closer to this fire near my home. I took this photo from James Alexander Reserve just near home. The fire was in Birdsland, where I had gone for a walk on Saturday:

Day 53

Went to the National Gallery Victoria to see the exhibition of photos by Andreas Gursky. I wanted to see it to improve my photography. I was quite unsettled by the images as I couldn't see how he had done them, and as for using his inspiration to improve my photos, well I don't think so! We can but dream:

Trip to see Gursky exhibition

After the exhibition I took this rather lame photo. But I know now that to improve I will put more effort and thought into all aspects of photography:

Day 51

Outside my local gym, there is one of the aquatic sculptures that were made to represent the 72 competing nations in the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games. This one is a Leatherback Turtle, which represented St Lucia, an island nation in the Caribbean:

On the way home I took this as the day transformed into dusk:

Day 49

Have to wear sunnies in my office (the blinds are coming):

Bright sunny office

Another view of my daily commute:

Day 48

After yesterday when I took a photo from my office window, today I was surprised to see an excavator digging a large hole next to the tree. I don't know why.

Day 47

Loved this scene of the sun low in the sky this morning, so I got out of the car on the way to work.

Day 44

At the end of a tragic week in which bushfires have taken many lives and burnt property, wildlife and bush, it is not surprising that a pall of smoke hangs in the air and changes the light:
Evening light with bushfire smoke My flickr caption says: Illuminating a tree nearly dead from drought in our front yard is a weak sun struggling to send its sickly yellow rays through haze of smoke

And continuing my photojourney, here is another photo of me. My mother sewed my dress and knitted the boys'jumpers. (One of my brothers was absent in this photo):
